Pre-order our Book: “Austin Beer: Capital City History on Tap”

Well folks, the time has finally come…

You’ve read about it in The Austin Chronicle, Zagat and right here on Bitchbeer.org, and now after months of writing, researching and (obviously) drinking, our book, “Austin Beer: Capital City History on Tap” is finally complete. It’s currently being printed and is slated for an early September release through The History Press.

094.8 austin beer cvr temp copyWeighing in at nearly 250 pages, the stories featured in this book come as a culmination of more than 60 interviews with members of the Austin beer community–past, present and even future, as well as many hours of extensive archival research investigating Austin’s brewing roots, which stretch back all the way to the mid 1800s. It includes everyone from Johann “Jean” Schneider to Jester King, and even a glimpse at the future of Austin beer including the upcoming Pierre Celis Brewery. And, we don’t stop at the breweries, we also write about the community surrounding craft beer in Austin, including interviews with Austin homebrewers, bar managers, festival organizers and many more of craft beer’s biggest supporters.

“Austin Beer” also includes a foreword from our friend, esteemed local craft beer advocate Debbie Cerda, as well as a glossy color photo insert, original infographics, a glossary of beer-centric day trips, a read-along drinking game and local beer pairings for each chapter. Because, as we like to say, you’re never (drinking) alone when in the company of a good book.

Now, let’s talk about how you can get a copy in your hands.

With the release date just around the corner (glorious release party details to come), we have a limited number of books available for readers in the continental US to pre-order straight through Bitchbeer.org.

As a bonus, every book pre-ordered directly through the PayPal link below will be hand signed with a special note made out from us to you! If you’re ordering the book as a gift or would prefer for it to be made out to a different name than the one listed in your order, make sure to drop us a note under “Add special instructions to the seller.” Books will be shipped USPS priority mail to the address you provide. Expect your copy to arrive in early September.

We feel extremely honored to have been given the opportunity to write a book about Austin’s amazing, dynamic brewing industry and the strong sense of culture and community that has surrounded it throughout the years. Now, we’re even more honored to have the opportunity to share it with all of you!

So, what are you waiting for? Prove that people still actually read books and pre-order your signed copy today!

We’re sorry, but this pre-sale has ended. Visit this page to order an un-signed copy of the book, or this page to find out when we’ll be selling and signing books around Austin.

  1. I. Cannot. Wait. To get this book.
Thanks for being a presence in Austin and reclaiming the female right to like beer. (Once, a cashier didn’t card me because I was buying a six-pack of Stash IPA. I asked him if he needed to see my ID, and he said, “No. Girls don’t buy this beer, so… is it for your husband?”

  2. Thanks Meredith, we can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on it! And thanks for sharing your story. Unfortunately, it’s one that’s all too common, but will hopefully start to change as more and more women are drawn to craft beer!

  3. Is Walt Powell in the book?

  4. A signed copy would be awesome but bottom line is I’m getting it anyway! Congrats ladies!
