Ninety nine out of 100 thermometers polled may not quite agree just yet, but fall is officially underway….which means it’s time to strap on the Lederhosen and prepare for Oktoberfest.

Central Texas’s German heritage makes for a region ripe with Oktoberfest celebrations. You can always take a day trip out to the Fredericksburg‘s Oktoberfest or New Braunfels Wurstfest to get your beer and sausage fix with the masses, but here are some great celebrations taking place right here in Austin.

Prost!

Oasis, Texas Brewing Company

Oasis, Texas Brewing Company is celebrating Oktoberfest September 20 with the debut of their new seasonal, plus an Oktoberfest themed menu from Noble Sandwiches. Check out the flyer below for details:

Banger’s Special Oktoberfest Menu Offerings:

Appetizers
Bierwurst: Smoked beef and pork snack sausages served with house-made pickles and spicy mustard.
German Potato Pancake: If a German Potato Salad and a Jewish Latke had a love child, this would be it. Served with a side of applesauce and sour cream.
Spaetzle: A very traditional German flour dumpling browned in butter. This stuff is like German crack; it’s so damn addictive.

Sausages
Coburger: Light and delicate veal and pork sausage simply seasoned with nutmeg and a little lemon zest on a kolache bun with sauerkraut and spicy mustard.
Krautwurst: Take a bratwurst, stuff it with bacon and sauerkraut, serve it on a kolache bun with caramelized onions and spicy mustard, and this is what you get.
Bockwurst: Berlin original – pork and veal served on a kolache bun with caramelized onions and grain mustard
Schnitzel Sausage: Thinly pounded pork cutlet, stuffed with bacon lardons and sauerkraut dusted with panko bread crumbs and then lightly fried to a golden brown. It’s served over a buttery spaetzle and a side of our house made spicy mustard.
Weisswurst: A delicate veal and pork, white sausage, poached in beef broth served with a pretzel and side of spicy mustard.

Austin Beerworks Oktoberfiesta
