Are you in the mood to tackle one of the more ridiculous beer lineups this town has seen, Austin? Because Banger’s is utilizing close to all of their 104 taps in celebration of a pretty huge milestone.
Banger’s will host its Second Anniversary Party in the heart of Rainey Street at its Texas beer garden, with food, brews and music aplenty Saturday, August 2nd. Festivities kick off at 11:00 AM and last throughout the day and well into the night.
Always one to impress with its badass beer selection, the anniversary brews shall be legendary. Appropriately titled, “The Greatest Beer Lineup of All Time,” the list features 19 of Beer Advocate’s “Top 250 Beers in the World,” including Goose Island Bourbon County Stout and Firestone Walker Parabola, as well as 48 rare kegs from Banger’s cellars. On top of that, they are serving up pours of four beers typically unavailable in Austin from Lakewood Brewing, and 8th Wonder. And, of course, there will be plenty of local seasonal beers from the likes of Hops & Grain, Live Oak, and Jester King, including a firkin that is the first to leave the JK premises.
You can’t drink all day without a stomach grounded and full of superb food. Executive Chef Ted Prater will be cooking four whole animals in four ways, with each being served as a taco for a whopping total of four tacos per plate for $15. Dinner gets served up at 8:00 PM until the bins run empty and the bones are cleaned.
- Venison cooked in a smoker, chopped with bacon and honey, and drizzled with more honey.
- Pig cooked in a Caja China and served with mojo sauce, black beans and plantains.
- Lamb cooked on a spit, mixed with a spicy tomato, pepper and onion stew, and topped with feta and cilantro.
- Goat roasted in a cage and serve with cucumber relish and yogurt sauce.
Then there is the music. The party will be filled with hot live music to pair with the cold, delicious beer. The day’s line-up is as follows:
3:00p – 6:00p Silas Lowe & The Liabilities
6:30p – 8:30p The Gents
9:00p – 12:00a The Possum Posse
Ben Siegel, Banger’s owner shared with Bitch Beer what makes this milestone so impactful to him and the Banger’s team.
“Honestly we have so much to be thankful for; making it two years in a very tough and competitive business, figuring out how to manage 104 taps, having cycled through over 1,000 different beers since we’ve opened and curating what I truly believe is one of the best tap lists I have ever seen.”
We can raise our glass to that.
