Today is a glorious day. Not because it’s Wednesday, and there’s only two days left until the weekend. Not because we’re one day closer to finding out The Royal Baby’s name (It’s George, guys! Much better than some of the made up names floating around lately. I’m looking at you, North West). Not because it’s just two days until Bitch Beer’s Time of the Month. No, today is glorious because Saint Arnold Brewing Company announced Austin’s first vegetarian beer dinner.
You’d think in a city that is proud of its “Keep Austin Weird” motto and has a day to honor a crazy, cross dressing, mayoral candidate hobo (RIP Leslie), this would have happened a lot sooner, and as a vegetarian for 11 years, I couldn’t agree more. Vegetarians have patiently watched as our meat-eating friends joyously devour beer dinner after beer dinner, and now it’s our time to chow down.
Held at Swoop House on east East 7th Street, the Supper Friends: Summer Harvest Feast will take place on Tuesday, August 6 at 7 p.m. and will feature five completely vegetarian courses plus hors d’oeuvres before hand, each paired with a different Saint Arnold beer. Each plate will serve the freshest and most flavorful summer ingredients prepared by Chef Eric Nelson Brown. Here’s a sneak peak at the menu.
Passed Hors D’Oeuvres:
Achiote Jack Fruit & Black Bean Tostadas with Queso Fresco
