The Love Beer Fundraiser is an upcoming event combining ambitious local charities with delicious (mostly) local brews.
It’s all going down Saturday, June 15 from 4-9 p.m. at The Mueller Browning Hanger.
Participating breweries include (512), Adelbert’s, Alamo Beer Company, Austin Beerworks, Brooklyn Brewery, Circle Brewing, Guadalupe Brewing, Hops & Grain, Infamous, Jester King, Live Oak, Pedernales, Real Ale, Rogness, Saint Arnold, Shiner, South Austin and Thirsty Planet.
Because the event is a fundraiser, and attendees do not have to pay for any beer on top of the ticket price, brewpubs, which typically have to pull their own catering licenses to pour beer at for-profit festivals, are free to participate in the event. As a result, Bastrop Brewhouse, Black Star Co-Op, Namaste Brewing and Uncle Billy’s will all be in attendance. It will also be the public’s first chance to try beer from Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co., which is currently slated to open on Oltorf in July.
Live music will be performed by Monte Warden, Lazy J and the Dirty Shuffle, Chalkboards and The Austin Polka Band.
“While there have been several beer-tasting events in Austin over the past few years, we hope that we can set the Love Beer Fundraiser apart by the nature of its intimate, smaller size where the beer-lovers get to meet and visit with the beer-brewers,” Event Coordinator Suellen Hanson said.
Unlike the majority of beer festivals, there will not be any beer tickets at the event.
“There are no hidden costs for the guests,” Hanson said. “Once they’re through the gates, they can sample freely the beer, the non-alcoholic beverages and the food available while listening to the live music play.”
Tickets are $55, or two for $100 and include a commemorative tasting glass, food samples from Bar Louie, Bastrop Brewhouse, Greenling and Austinuts, and all the beer samples attendees can responsibly enjoy.
