Guess Which TX Breweries Rank in Brewers Association Top 50

BA_logo-1In a report released today, the Brewers Association has announced the top 50 American craft breweries based on beer volume sales.

Only two Texas breweries cracked the top 50 to join behemoths of the craft industry like Boston Beer Company, Sierra Nevada and New Belgium.

The Gambrinus Company, located in San Antonio, comes in at number four on the list amongst craft breweries, and number ten overall when you factor in the Bud-Miller-Coors-Pabsts of the world. Gambrinus owns Shiner, but their standing on the list is a bit skewed because they also own Portland-based BridgePort Brewing, and Berkeley-based Trumer Brauerei.

The only other Texas-based brewery to grace the top 50 is Houston-based Saint Arnold, coming in at number 45.

Real Ale Brewing Company previously held the number 45 slot in 2011, but did not crack the top 50 this year.
