Craft Pride Tapped for Thursday Grand Opening

555226_184345101685164_1606223176_nBy now, you’ve probably heard the buzz on Craft Pride, a new Rainey St. bar focusing exclusively on Texas craft beer. And, if you’re really in the know you may have already swung by in the past week during the bar’s soft opening period to sneak a peek for yourself. Well, whether you’ve experienced the sheer splendor of 54 Lonestar-bred taps staring you in the mouth or not, you’re invited to celebrate Craft Pride’s Grand Opening tomorrow.

In addition to their tap lineup (listed below) opening night will feature a gravity keg from Jester King and a Real Ale firkin (both to be tapped at 6 p.m.), as well as live screen printing from Sanctuary Print Shop, the company behind Craft Pride’s logo and branding. The doors open at 4 p.m.

So what can you expect from Craft Pride? We swung by last week (okay… maybe we swung by a couple times, and maybe it wasn’t so much swinging by as it was a couple of leisurely drinking sessions) to experience the joint for ourselves, and found the craft beer bar housed in your quintessential Rainey St. reno, a beautiful wood exterior painted in a deep red hue. Inside, the large tap wall sits in a dark, cozy room, accented with gorgeous reclaimed wood and one-of-a-kind fixtures reflecting a level of craftmanship truly fitting of the bar’s name. Outside, a spacious patio features octagonal picnic tables that encourage conversations to flow just as easy as the beer itself…see what I did there…

Craft Pride will offer specially curated beer flights, served on slices of a tree trunk cut from the property.

Bacon serves...bacon.

Bacon serves…bacon.

Also taking up real estate on the back patio is the Bacon Bus, a mobile off-shoot of Bacon. They’ll be serving up some staples from the brick & mortar restaurant, as well as trailer exclusives, all including the namesake ingredient. Also, don’t want to be in the rumor mongering business, but there has been talk about offering a Sunday brunch at some point.

Besides the Texas taps, another thing that sets Craft Pride apart is the fact that it houses a small bottle shop with a separate entrance. While perfect for condo dwellers looking for quality bottled beer within walking distance, and bar patrons who want to bring home a bottle of something great they tried on draft, customers will also be able to order single serve beers from the bottle shop for on-premise consumption for a $1-2 opening fee.

Craft Pride is the product of years of hard work from husband and wife team JT and Brandy Egli. The beer program is helmed by Operations Manager “Beer Guru” Chris Booth (formerly of Banger’s and Black Star Co-Op).
