What’s Bitch Beer?
Not anymore.
On Feb. 4, 2012, a group of girls went on a brewery tour. Pints later, Bitch Beer was born.
Welcome to our site.
Statistics show that approximately 80 percent of beer drinkers are men. We represent that other 20 percent, and we’re intent on growing.
We enjoy a good stiff drink or a glass of wine as much as the next chick, but nothing beats the cool, refreshing, easy drinkin’ appeal of the lunch-time drink of champions, the shotgunner’s delight, the libation that’s been getting ugly people laid since 9500 BC, the world’s most widely consumed alcoholic beverage…BEER.
We went with the name Bitch Beer because we want to disprove the old adage that women aren’t really beer drinkers. We’re evoking a name often given to sugary, low-alcohol content beer substitutes like Smirnoff Ice or Mike’s Hard Lemonade to prove that, from a stout to an IPA, these so-called bitches can drink any damn beer they please. You heard us, every beer is a Bitch Beer.
Some of our content will be skewed towards our fellow females, ya know, advice like “Never date a guy who drinks Natty Light.” But most of our content can be enjoyed by all beer lovers. We’re talking interviews with brewers, homebrew advice, beers of the week, cooking with beer and more.
So relax, crack open a cold one, and enjoy the site!

Caroline’s love of beer was honed in the pubs of New Zealand and Scotland, but after a few years back in Austin, TX she’s all about the American craft beer scene. Besides being a beer geek, she’s a pig owner, film fan, breakfast taco connoisseur and an incredibly novice homebrewer.

Holly is a St. Edward’s University graduate from Austin with a passion for screamo, the color green and good beer. After trying a Young’s Double Chocolate Stout on her 21st birthday, Holly discovered her love of dark beer and learned that the phrase, “Once you go black, you never go back,” is true.

Before Ari’s friends set her straight, she used to prefer girly drinks like (dare she say it?) cherry vodka sours over beer. Now she can drink IPAs until she has to be carried home. A crime show junkie, she is currently working as a journalist for the Austin American-Statesman.

Wendy Cawthon is a connoisseur of fine-ish cheeses, wines, and beers, proving that bitches aren’t limited to light beer. She enjoys wheat beer, local IPAs and the occasional lager.

As resident beer snob, rookie and designer, Shaun enjoys a nice hefeweizen and the occasional round of beer pong. In her spare time she frequents local bars and breweries and dreams of names for her currently imaginary puppy.

Kat McCullough is a Theater Arts major at St. Edward’s University and began her journey with beer when she forced herself to drink an entire Lone Star…and loved it. From that moment on, Kat knew she wanted to shove every beer in her path into her gullet. She lives in Austin, Tx with three roommates, three cats….and a pig.
Sarah Wood| @swood1298Sarah Wood, a QA engineer at a mobile solutions firm, loves great food, a good book, and an excellent beer (or 4). Although her boozy tastes have not always been quite so refined (Texas State, eat ‘em up Cats!) she has pretty much reformed her frat-daddy ways (she almost never shotguns beers anymore) and is enjoying her continued education in the nuances of beer with her trusty pup Aloysius by her side.

Caroline if you want Radler it’s not hard to make it the official Bavarian way: get a bright crisp weissbier and dilute it 50/50 with sparkling water or (gasp) sprite. It’s all those guys will drink out there when it’s hot out. As for me, I stick with the dunkles and Belgian sours, even in the sun.
Finally. This is amazing.
I recently spent a semester abroad in France (yeah, I’m /that/ girl) and during my trips to Germany and Belgium my world was changed. Before leaving Texas, I could barely gulp down a Lonestar. But, alas, I have returned and more enthused about the world of craft beer than wine or cheese. I’m only 22 years old but I know my love affair with beer has only just begun. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed wasting half an hour on this site.
Chopeg,
