Austin Celebrates Arrival of Firestone Walker With Release Parties
This is a week to remember in Texas history. No, it has nothing to do with our love of guns, lassoing farm animals or anything boring like that. Texans will forever remember this week because this is the week Firestone Walker Brewing Company comes to the Lone Star State.
To celebrate this grand occasion, several bars around town are throwing release parties with special guests and tons of beer that have never been legally sold in Texas. With so many awesome events all week, the Firestone team is sure to feel they’re leaving their beer in good, yet drunken, hands.
When: Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: 607 Trinity Street
Beers: Union Jack IPA, Pale 31, Velvet Merlin, Wookey Jack (8oz pour)
The dealio: Firestone reps will also be in attendance for you to pick their brains about their awesome beers. Check out the Facebook event here.
When: Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 5-9 p.m.
Where: 815 West 47th Street
Beers: 7 different Firestone Walker beers
The dealio: Tickets cost $15 and come with a taster of each beer, a Firestone Walker Pint Glass, a Flying Saucer taster glass and a raffle ticket. Six beers will be available the whole night, and at 8 p.m. the seventh beer will be tapped. Firestone Walker reps will also be on site to talk shop and drink beer with you.
UPDATE: Tickets are now sold out. The way I see it, you now have three options: bribe a friend who was quick enough to buy tickets, beg your friend who bartends at the Saucer to let you in or sadly watch from the outside as everyone else has a drunkenly good time inside.

Beers: Still a secret, but there will be a total of nine total beers, including one special beer.
The dealio: Firestone Walker Owner & Founder, David Walker, will be at the party along with several other FW crew members.

Where: 2121 East 6th Street
Beers: Tap takeover. Beer list still unreleased, but they’ve promised four or five different beers.
When: Thursday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m.-ish
Where: 3508 South Lamar
Beers: Three different kegs of undisclosed beer
The dealio: The start time is 5 p.m.-ish because the kegs will be tapped no later than 5. The Firestone owners will drop by around 7 p.m.

Beers: It’s a secret!

Beers: Tastings of DBA and Union Jack. Double Jack 22oz bottles will be on sale at the store.
The dealio: Owner & Founder David Walker will be at the store signing bottles, and you can also enter a drawing for a chance to buy a few extremely rare Firestone beers.
